Double check your installation. I installed one in my G3/300 last year and it worked fine. What revision is your computer? Mine is revision 2.I put a new USB PCI card into my G3/300 and it now won't boot. What are the steps for this? OSX 2.8 and normally I would boot with extensions off but don't think I can do this with OSX. I get the spinning wheel thingy as well as the 'verboten' sign and nothing else. I was hoping the USB would install as simply as the firewire, absolute plug and play but it looks more complicated.
(As a complete aside, if any of you have not experienced wireless Internet, there is something absolutely magical about having a laptop sitting there with no wires coming out of it while surfing the 'net. Is epiphany too strong a word? )

I hope your card is ok.
