No Keycaps is still there, it's just moved to another place. It's now 
called Keyboard viewer. Open the "International pane" in System 
Preferecnes, then under the "input menu" tab turn on Keyboard viewer by 
checking the box. Also turn on "character pallet". Both will now be in 
the menu bar under the language flag. Accessible at all times.

There is also a "hardware solution". Matais great Tactile Pro� keyboard 
shows all the common symbols right on the keyboard. <G>
