lloyd frank wants to know.... IDE or SATA on a Beige G3?
I've got a Beige G3 MT with a 4GB SCSI drive, which I think is an Ultra/Wide drive, but it's running off of the internal SCSI bus. Anyways, I am running out of space, <snip>, should I just go with an ATA/100 drive, or would SATA be a better choice?

Your Beige G3 probably still has some life in it, but I wouldn't sink too much money into it. You're gonna want a host controller card and at least a 7200 RPM drive; whether you go for ATA/133 or SATA should be determined by relative cost. If you find two card/drive combo deals that are pretty close in price, I'd go for the SATA. You can always pull them out later to use on your next Mac.
Also, is the 8GB partition for installing OSX still an issue with SATA? Well, any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
________
The 8 GB limit for OS X is drive controller related. ATA/133 and SATA cards allow you to use huge drives without any artificial partition sizes.
