No mods necessary. It's a simple swap of one board for another. Essentially all 5xxx Mac all-in-ones have the 5200 form factor.

I've done this many, many times without a problem. Just be aware, however, that the 5400/5500 boards have PCI slots, which draw power if they're filled with cards that are used. The power supply of the 5200 (and 5300 too, I believe) was not designed to accommodate the power demands of a PCI slot. The power supply of the 5400/5500 take this into account.

I've had no problems because the machines I've done this to are given to schools/kids/needy folks who use them mainly for games/learning programs/light word processing. And the PCI slots are left empty.
