I used to have cable but the cost to effectiveness ratio was a joke. Like
the song says all we need is just a little patience but most of us want it
to be Tardis-ware because it absolutely positively has to be there before
we asked for it ;-) (Tardis was a time machine for those too young to
remember Dr Who)

Same here. I live on the edge of an historic section of the county and DSL
is never going to happen. They do have it two block away where the township
line ends however.

Not any more. I use Earthlink and it is available for Mac according to them.
Unfortunately I used to be a supervisor at an electronics company and we
used sat-int when we sold a computer to set up the instant rebate. Sat-int
is so awful that my manager actually hooked up a 56K modem to the
demonstrator just so our service was consistent for 5 straight minutes.
Satellite is great fro watching TV as I have about 3 times as many channels
for about 1/2 the price of cable. Besides where do you think digital cable
gets its signal? Someone once mentioned that if you have a storm the signal
will go out and a repairman once mentioned that if it gets to that point you
should not have the TV on in the first place as it is a lightning magnet
(the poles for cable boxes are more exposed and therefore more likely to get
hit by lightning than Satellite dishes which are usually attached to houses
and most of them are grounded).
