A DVD recorder is very handy as a capture device for a mac as the
recorded dvd content can be decrypted, converted and imported into imovie or
Final Cut for editing, titling and effects before exporting back to DVD.
Lots of disk space and processor time is required so the beefier the mac the
better.
Beware of DVD+R recorders though as the mac optical drive may not be
able to see or separate the chapters properly unless the disc has been
finalised.
