Hi -
I'm pretty new to the list, but I've enjoyed reading the posts. A wealth of knowledge out there! Keep it up!
I'm on a B&W 450mhz 512mg ram. I just installed 9.04 and then 9.1 from the original 8.6 that came with it and I'm trying to now get up to 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 (heading for OSX hopefully).
My problem is downloading. I'm running a cable modem and generally it loads web pages etc. pretty quickly, but lately it has been getting SLOW.
Some pages won't load at all and when I tried to download the 9.2.1 updater from the apple site, it starts the download and then gets slower and slower (way down to below dial up speeds) until nothing at all is coming thru the pipe and it just says "waiting for data" in the download manager.
I tried all different approaches for this (that I can think of), as well as trying to download it from the download.com site. All to no avail.
The browser I'm using is IE 5. I also tried it with Netscape 6 which at first seemed to be better, but then had the same problem.
Could this be some kind of spyware or some such thing slowing/killing the pipe flow?
Thanks in advance for the thoughts -
Karl
