Another consideration with regard to a used PowerMac is that there may be unexpected issues or things you'll want to replace or upgrade. For example my Dual-533 that I bought off ebay (actually for a good price) was fine except for two things.

1. The hard drive was insanely noisy. It had to be replaced. I had another hard drive I had intended to install anyway and the original was pretty small, so this wasn't a huge issue.

2. Currently the old drive is still in the machine, but just disconnected. This is because the screw that holds the mounting plate down is so shredded that I have not been able to get it out. This sucks royally as it not only takes away one mounting spot, but actually two because in this particular mounting spot you can stack up two drives one on top of the other, but to get the second drive mounted you need to put in screws on the sides, the right side is near the side of the case. You have to be able to remove the whole mounting plate in order to put the drive in on top, which leads back to the original problem - I can't get the screw out. Doh!

I've tried taking locking needle nose pliers to it, but I can't get it to work. The head of the screw is nearly flush and further there is a slight indentation around the screw making it even harder to get a grip on the screw. I finally just gave up and accepted that I'd have only two mounting spots for drives. If anybody has any suggestions on how I might get that screw out, I'm all ears.

Point is, that with any used hardware you're bound to find some issues you hadn't expected. The mini is new, so less likely to have such issues, not to mention that it has a warranty.
