My understanding is that Apple closed off the boot process to Be with the G3 thus starting Be's move to the x86 platform. I have been running BeOS on my Daystar Genesis MP800. It runs rings around my BeBox.
I have a G3-500 and a G4-800 card that I could slide in and see if it runs. Not that will help you with you B&W G3. My Daystars and several other Tsunami based clones (PTP, S900, etc) are the most modern Mac's I own.

I have run BeOS on my beige G3. I'm still trying to get ANYTHING to install on this new B&W...
