Looking at my G4 Quicksilver compared to the new G5 tower, which is to say a curvaceous, elegant work of art versus what looks like a tin lunchbox, I have to wonder, did Apple fire its case designer and neglect to hire a new one, or were they suffering from creative exhaustion when they came up with the exterior of the G5? What a plain nothing of a box.

Visually, it's like going from a a BMW sports car back to a Model T Ford. What happened? I'm glad my G4 is still adequate for my needs, because I'm hoping that by the time I need a new Mac they'll be sculpting them artistically again.

The G5 looks like a serious piece of industrial machinery, which makes Point Haired Bosses consider it a real workstation instead of a toy. Personally, I like the look, it fits in with my dual Xeon.
