You will, of course, be able to use all of the old apps you list in Classic, but that isn't really switching. Word, PS, and Acrobat are currently selling their 2nd OS X versions and FileMaker is on the 4th. If you look around, you should be able to find Word X, PS 7, FileMaker 6 (or 5/5.5), and Acrobat 6 at substantial discounts over the original list prices. As for Fetch, I'm not sure if you mean Aldus Fetch or Fetch the FTP client. Obviously, there's not going to be a new version of Aldus Fetch. If you mean the FTP client, the current version (4.0.3) runs natively in both OS 9 and OS X. If you need to upgrade, the new version is $25.

By the way I've been reading this exchange about the pros and cons of OSX
with much interest and intend to give it a whirl once my new (old) G3 gets
into operation, but wonder with 256MB and 300 clock speed, is Jaguar going
to run efficiently, or are constant rolling beachballs to be expected? As
for apps, maybe mail and web software is readily available for free or
cheaply, but what about replacements for Word, Photoshop, Filemaker, Fetch,
and Acrobat? -- all of which I use constantly.
