As mentioned earlier, I plan on upgrading a friends iMac DV 400 Mhz with bigger HD and OSX. As the iMac can't handle more then about 130 Gb, a 160 Gb drive will suffice. The machine has 320 Mb RAM

I have never installed OSX on an iMac, and could need some help:

1. What about firmware upgrade? How do I do it, booted from OS9?
2. Formatting: is it a good idea to boot with the OSX-install, and format the drive as "journalled"? The OS9 formatting program doesn't handle this new format.
3. Partitioning: I was thinking about three partitions; 2 Gb for OS9, 6 Gb for scratch (PhotoShop, CD/DVD-burning), and the rest for OSX. Isn't it a good idea to have OS9 on a separat volume, for emergency booting in case something fails?
4. Should I install OS9 first and then OSX afterwards? Does it matter which order?
