Hi Deborah, congratulations! > Anyway it's a pretty basic setup (got it from the LEM swap list!! > YAY!): > > G3/300 B&W > System 9.2 > Memory 128MB > 24X CD > 2-Firewire ports > 2-USB ports > 1-ADB port > Ethernet > 6 Gig Hard Drive > > So I can use the memory from my MiniTower (will give me 576 MB - 4 > slots!!), Hopefully the RAM you have in your MiniTower (I guess you're referring to the beige G3) is either PC100 or PC133 since the beige G3 took PC66 aswell which doesn't work in the B&W G3. > the upgrade card (I know, Gene, but I"m gonna give it a try!), Apple > Genuine > Pioneer "SuperDrive" DVR-106, and of course my hard drive (just > replace the > one that's there, I know about the IDE issue). Nope sorry, you need a Mac branded PCI ATA controller, PC versions do not work. > Also have a SIIG SCSI card apparently it's a scsi-2, I used to use it > for an > external CDRW on my peecee. There is mac software (Not OSX tho) for a > newer > scsi card they have. I downloaded it "just in case." Some PC SCSI card could be flashed with a Mac ROM in the past to be able to be used in a Mac. I wasn't awhere of any SIIG SCSI cards, but I found some references to this card mentioned as SIIG 10 SCSI PRO PC/MAC Since the few resources I found say it's a PC/Mac card it looks like it should work OK, in a pre-OS X environment that is of course. Also according to SIIG's site only the first two revisions of the Fast SCSI Pro card are Mac (pre-OS X) compatible (see drivers section). BTW there seems to be a SIIG AP-40 SCSI PRO PC/MAC card aswell which is Ultra Wide SCSI. > What I'm gonna do tho is install OSX right away, as I had so much > trouble > doing that on the MT. And HEY no 8 GB limit, right? Correct. > Any other advice? I'm soooo excited!! For me it worked best when installing the fastest RAM (PC133) in the first few slots. Also I installed the bigger sized RAM in the first slots aswell. For you this would be 256MB-128MB-128MB-64MB. But it should work in any other config aswell of course.
