Wellllll! I must say I'm a bit impressed with myself. Had a favorite slot-loading scsi pioneer DVD-304 that I wanted to put into an old LaCie burner enclosure (also SCSI).
Sooooo....took the enclosure apart, and studied the jumper settings, etc. on both drives. (took pics to be on the safe side!!) Pretty easy. Put the wires where they seemed best. Fired it up on the old G3 Minitower. Hmmmmm, scsi bus not showing up. OK. Changed the ID setting. Booted up again. SUCCESS! Then put it on the G3 Blue & White. Showing up in profiler but no disks would show up. AHA! Need a driver! Google that exact drive with Macintosh in front of it. SUCCESS AGAIN! Put that little extension in the system folder and rebooted. YAY! Works GREAT! This is all in OS 9 (not classic). It cleaned up real nice: http://lovesalsa.multiply.com/photos/photo/3/1.JPG Haven't tried it in OSX yet tho. But I'm much more comfortable in OS 9 than X anyway. Froze the whole damned Blue & White this morning trying to boot into classic from X. Not good. And I'm still getting my vertical-striped monitor at startup (from shutdown), and doing the super ram zap (command-option-p-r and then command-option-o-f) didn't do it, had to push the CUDA button and all came up OK. One of these days i'll figure it out. Deb in Rhode Island -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
