A friend has a clamshell, usb only, that boots to open firmware, continues to
make booting sounds but the screen goes black. I haven't seen it so I'm not
susre exactly what the sequence is.

About a year ago Narrator Dan gave instructions for closing down the onboard
video of a Beige in favor of a pci video card. I thought maybe my friend's
problem had to do with the firmware "forgetting" where its video card is, (even
in a clamshell.)

Has anyone seen such a problem?

Is there a way to ask the firmware to address the on board screen, just in case?

Long shot, I know, but this friend, who is quite savy, is stumped.
