The 10.2 installer disk will not work at all (goes to the green screen instead of launching), but I am able to launch the 10.3 updater disk, and then I can do as you suggest above and can repair permissions with Disk Utility, but it doesn't fix anything. I still cannot boot into 10 afterward.
Am stuck in 9 full time now, but at least I can communicate with you guys, which is a comfort. I feel like I'm not alone. But I am beginning to feel like I'm running out of options here. Will I ever see the OS-X desktop again, or is it gone forever? Thanks for trying to help.
