You should be able to find a 19" CRT for cheap. If you get any takers, you can email people off the list, and they might let you have one for free. (I have an older 19" CRT I could part with, works fine, email me)
As for CRT, I swear by ViewSonic. For LCD, I swear by Apple. Sorry, but unless you are OK with playing dead pixel lottery, Apple is the only way to go. (I have tested Viewsonic, Toshiba, and others, and all had at least 1 dead pixel, my Apple has none)

Hi everyone,
I hope this is OK to ask. I am in need of a new monitor for my PowerMac G4
but am on a budget... much as I'd like one of those huge Apple Cinema
displays, really the most I can spend is about $500.
My current monitor is an old Ebay bargain 15" CRT... and I'm hoping for
something considerably "better"... either 19" or 21". I don't really care
if it's CRT or LCD... I don't edit video or anything like that. I do use a
lot of Photoshop and Pagemaker.
