No, it's an integral part of the Finder and you would see little,
if any gain, iac. Spotlight is VERY fast at writing to it's database.
G'day Lou, go to Preferences, Spotlight, Privacy and hit the +
sign, then select and add each of your drives. This effectively turns
off Spotlight.
