I have a nice SCSI harddrive that I am trying to use as a Mac OS X boot
disk. P{roblem is, OS X wont boot from it unless it is in sibgle ended mode.
However, if I boot OS X off another HD, it will mount the drive most of the
time (while in LVD mode), but not all the time. And it seemed as though OS 9
did not have a problem booting off it while in LVD mode. I am using
an Adaptec 39160, dual bus card.
Do I need to put a terminator on the unused external
connectors, or the unused internal bus connector?
No. But you do need to make sure each chain is properly terminated
at both physical ends. IOW, make sure your SCSI card is providing
active termination and make sure the last physical drive in the chain
is actively terminated.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
OS X's support for SCSI seems to suck. I've got chains that work
great in OS 9, but not in OS X, then work fine on other Macs...
