I have been looking for a good newsgroup reader,
There are none. USENET is evil. Evil I say! Evil! Evil! Evil!
So far I've tried MT-Newswatcher, which has a pre-OSX style
interface that I don't care for, also it is just not very intuitive,
MT-NW is a bit funky iface-wise, but it's a great newsreader. And
it's under active development.
Every newsreader has a learning curve. IMO, MT-NW's is one of the easiest.
I can't seem to figure out how to get it to download messages older
than a few days ago, even though I'm on a newsgroup server that
keeps 25 days worth.
Read the docs.
MT-NW slirps the n newest headers (n being what you specify in the
prefs). View them. Mark them as read. Now fetch the next n older
articles. Rinse. Repeat.
If you gots lots of RAM, you can make n really big. Personally, I
try to limit it to 10000 or so, so my eyes don't get glassy and start
spinning.
