I have an odd plastics question.
We have a couple B&WG3s, one of which has passed away and I have been
selling off the remains on the swap list.
Fairly new to us is a G4/450DP. The previous owner of the G4
apparently could not figure out how to open the side door, and managed
to break off the plastic latches that secure the door. The ring-thing
that opens the door still works, but does not hold the door as securely
as the two outer/top latches. Those latches are part of a large piece
of plastic that slides back and forth beneath the motherboard.
My question is, does anyone know if that plastic piece is the same in
the G3 and G4? Tonight, I will be taking the motherboard out of the G3
to send to Dana so he can hopefully salvage the motherboard IDE
connection for his sickly G3. I am reluctant to strip down the G4 to
try swapping the plastic part based on "they look like they are the
same." I was hoping someone on this list had some first hand
knowledge.
