I've got my B&W running Panther very smoothly, but am still using Classic for the usual reasons -- applications that I don't want to give up and can't afford to upgrade. Using my old but perfectly functioning Epson printer had become such a nuisance that a few weeks ago I treated myself to a *new* (like from the store!) HP which is supposed to work in both 9 & X -- at first it seemed to do exactly that, and still does behave flawlessly in X, but none of the Classic apps will print. They all give an error message "printer is busy". The Chooser shows the printer in the left pane, but nothing appears on the right hand side except an offer to hunt for additional printers through the network. The most annoying thing is that printing in Word etc posed no difficulties right after installation.

Which HP printer? Do you have it connected through a network, or a direct connection?
