I want to install a second IDE drive in a beige G3 minitower that has the original ATA-66 drive controller and a 14-inch single-drive connector cable. It appears that it will take approximately 30-inches of cabling to attach a second drive as a slave in the empty bottom bay, although it can be done with less if the CD-ROM and Zip drives are moved down to open the top bay. Does anyone know what the maximum cable length is that can be used with this machine? I've found one spec that states the limit is 18-inches, but I'm hoping someone has been able to use a longer cable. -Steve
