Thanks to everyone who made suggestions about the problems with our G3 B&W.
many of them are solved, thanks to your help (what a great group this
is!) and the machine is running well and fast. I should add that I
bought this for my wife's birthday to replace an aging 7100; she uses
it mainly for email, doesn't want to know anything about the computer
itself or change to OS X, just be able to switch it on a couple
times a day and have it work flawlessly
A few (more) questions:
1. Eudora and Sleep mode: I installed Eudora 6.1 since this has been
our email client ever since it began. But sometimes Eudora turns to
treacle and then hangs (won't run or quit). It seems to do this
after the Mac has been in sleep mode for a while (with that damn
noisy fan still running...) My solution has been to not put the G3 in
sleep mode, just to shut down. So far the problem has not occurred
after a regular startup.
Now this may be a Eudora problem more than a G3 one, I don't know.
What do you think? All suggestions welcome. Are there good resources
on line for troubleshooting Eudora? Are there better email clients
for 922 than Eudora (altho we're loath to change having used it for
so long.)
2. Internet Explorer 5.0 seems a bit clunky on here. Some sites look
strange. Are there later versions that will run better on 922? And,
are there better browsers - compatible with online banking sites -
for 922?
