OK I downloaded Mactracker. Is there anyway to work out whether my
G4/400 which I fitted an Apple Dual500 from eBay into is really a
Sawtooth and not a Mystic Gigabit Ethernet? Besides weighing (lol)
them because it's got lots of extras in it now.
Quite simple to answer:
Looking at the logic board (mobo if you want):
1) The Sawtooth has 10/100 Base-T ethernet
The Mystic/SnakeBite has 10/100/1000 Base-T, as Gigabit already
says.
See ASP to be sure.
2) The Sawtooth has an internal FireWire port, the Mystic has not!
If you have a complete machine and are not sure about, check the
Fam.No on
the backside of your Mac. You'll find each no in Mactracker under tab
"Overview".

And family number M5183 would be what?
This is on a Sawtooth ( I believe).
