I'm a little unsure what you mean by a 2x floppy Drive but we bought
3 Sony USB floppy Drives, model MPF82E-U1 which have never given any
trouble. They are a little slow under X, particularly if disks are
formatted for PC, but apart from that they are okay. I am not an
expert on such matters but the fact you have tried on two different
computers would have me looking hard at the drive. It is frustrating
when you buy things expecting them to be okay, but not finding the
time to use them straight off, and then when you do....
Sorry, no bright ideas here :-(
