Thanks Harry,
Right now finding a drive is the lower priority.
I'm a dumb newbie with drive failures. I have used Carbon Copy
Cloner to create disk images in the past for back up purposes. Not
that I have ever had to DO anything with those images. I happen to
have an empty 30GB drive that was in my husband's G4/450DP. (well
its empty now that I copied all his photos over to a little external
firewire/USB drive) I am using that drive for rescue.
I noticed when I launched Disk Utility to reformat and check the
rescue drive, that Disk Utility already has the ability to copy my
dying drive over to another drive. Duh!
My Maxtor must be fading fast. When I launched Disk Utility it too
told me the drive was going. In the left side of the window, where
it lists your mounted drives and partitions, my Maxtor's two
partitions are in bright red text.
Disk Utility is about a third of the way through transferring... as
it sit here with my fingers crossed. :-O
