Speaking of which: what is the release date for the Intel Macs? If memory serves, (and, no, it usually doesn't) the summer of '06 was given as the
release date for the last of the PPC G5s.

Actually, if I recall the keynote right, the first ones were scheduled to come out 2nd quarter '06, and the transition was not scheduled to be finished until '07.

Powerbooks and Mini's are scheduled to be the first macIntel systems.

"The World" by that time will probably include a large minority, if not a majority of Mac users who have never used OS 9 at all...the issue of no classic won't bother them a bit.
