I used to think I knew what I was doing but after not having any computer projects for about a year I must have forgotten everything.
I put a new ATA 160 GB Seagate in a USMicroLab external combo Firewire/USB case and connected it to my iBook 10.4.2 to format. Disk Utility did not see it via firewire or USB. Did I need to format this on an ATA bus prior to putting it in the enclosure in order to get a firewire and usb driver installed? Is this a capacity issue? I thought 10.4 was unaffected by that issue. (Not sure about the dual USB iBook 700, though). I did not set the capacity limiting jumper on the drive.
