Please, what do you mean with "the lower Doc(k?)" ?? I assume there must be
"a higher Dock" also? And is there something like "a middle Dock"?
Sorry, but I never heard of this/these terms so my question is seriously
meant.

Well I took him to mean the right hand side of the dock: The vertical divider on the dock, over by the Trash can is important. On the right hand side of that you can drag files, folders, aliases etc to the dock and they'll be accessible from there. The area on the right hand side is reserved for programs only.

As for lower/upper, if you change the dock so it's on the left-hand or the right-hand side of the screen (see System Preferences >Dock), the area where you can stick file aliases is indeed the lower section.
