Even my ISP scans my ports routinely.  I don't know why.  A firewall is as 
aboslute neccessity.  I have one on each computer and the one in the router.  
I haven't had a problem and I've been on broadband a year.  AND I have a 
windoze peecee behind the firewall.  Even it has survived unscathed....so 
far.
