Hi Michelle,
One thing you might try first is to run the Self Repair on your
word. It's been a while since I've run Office 98, but I believe you
will find what is called 'Microsoft Office First Run' located in the
same folder as the application itself. This is almost like doing a
reinstall of the App as it checks critical files.
Try double clicking on this. Make sure none of the Office apps
aren't running at the time. You might even want to reboot for a
thorough fix. Give this a try as it might take care of any possible
corruption.
