Most often this is a problem with the Normal.dot template; Office 98 may only call it 'Normal'. This is the default New Document. You can delete it and Word will recreate a new one.

You can try cleaning it, but likely it's dead, needs replacement.


Thank you very much. My husband lost his job last Thursday when the company he worked for suddenly closed (yep, bankrupt) - so we are in a serious bind and need this stuff to work
