As a matter of fact, it doesn't make me 'uncomfortable'. I feel that if somebody is going to make an assertion of any type and somebody challenges it, they should have something--hopefully a reliable resource--to back it up. The other person could only come up with his 'personal' experience and that doesn't convince me. There could have been a whole lot of other factors influencing his hard drive failure. I've been called on some of the things I've said here and I've learned from my errors. Mainly, because it made me go back and say "hmmm, how could I have been so wrong?"--investigate and then find the right answer. It's always been a positive thing for me. Hopefully somebody learned something here. I know I did from the debate. And, it didn't offend me in the least.

Justin and Bruce please drop this off topic argument.

Might using the word "argument" be putting it a bit strong?

Person 1: I assert that "XYZ" is true.
Person 2: I don't believe that "XYZ" is true. Can you site sources to
support your assertion?
Person 1: [silence]

Seems like a pretty mild "argument" to me. [shrugs] I thought that making statements and having them either affirmed/contradicted was what the list
was about.

You are making some of us uncomfortable.

Can you please quantify the phrase "some of us?" "Us" indicates more than
one person and I've only seen one email on this.

Please just don't write anymore about it.

Isn't it easier to simply use your "delete" key? Mine seems capable of coping with any topic, at no risk to me, and regardless of the level of
personal discomfort involved.

Along the same lines, if you objected to two people, wouldn't it have been easier to have sent them an email rather than post to the whole list? Maybe
it's just me, but it seems like posts that object to a particular
person/topic just prolong the agony (real or imagined).

James Fraser
