Hi
I fought off the X upgrade for ages being a OS9 die hard. Had two
networked beige g3 mini towers running 9.2.2 and enjoyed almost every
minute of my seldom crash OS9 mac experience. Then one day I picked up
a cheap B&W g3 on ebay and thought; let me try this OSX thing. I
managed to get my hands on Panther and the rest is history.
I hardly ever use OS9 now and I've even replaced both beiges with B&Ws.
The key to using B&W's I think is lots of memory (768Mb in both). I
extensively use OSX's printer networking for my lone epson stylus photo
900, and love X's internet connection sharing facility as I have a LAN
of 5 macs at my home (after passing the beiges on to my children) Now
thanks to the switch, my wife, the children, and myself can all be on
the net at the same time using a single modem!! iTunes led me to the
iPod which has completely revolutionised the way we relate to playing
as well as buying music. And as for safari, well, it has consigned
those frequent Internet Explorer quits, into the dustbin of
forgetfulness.
OS9.2.2 was good, but OSX (panther as least) is better. New
opportunities seem to be constantly presenting themselves just as a
result of taking the OSX plunge. I dread to think that I would have
missed all of this, had I stubbornly stuck with my beloved OS9.2.2

On a G4 QS 800? Several times a DAY?? OMG, are you kidding??? I never
had
to do that running 9.2.2 on my G3 Beige, which is older, slower (266,
and
even when it's upgraded, it'll be 400 to your 800), less advanced and
likely more problematic than what you've got! If I went down to the
point
of needing to restart once every week or two, that was a LOT! But
having
to restart several times in one day, never, never, never!
