Simplest thing to do: set both machines to DHCP. Turn them off again.

Boot up the QS (Tiger) machine first, then the 7300 (9.1).

This way they will automatically have different IP numbers, and you don't have to key them in or know what they are.

Let the OSX machine be the server, and connect to it from the 9.1 machine! In theory it should work both ways, but the other way is very unstable, loosing connection randomly.

If you turn on AppleTalk on both machines (and on the 9.1 make sure the AppleTalk control panel is set to "Ethernet"), then you don't have to fiddle with IP numbers at all. The OSX machine will show up normally in Chooser
