Not all that uncommon, unfortunately. But I've been told this was a problem with the earliest G4 iBooks only. I had the screen replaced on my iBook G4 933 MHz a week ago

I have a 1.2 GHz G4 iBook, 14" model.  I think I just got some bad
luck, as everyone I've talked to has no idea how I could have
caused this issue.  In other words, I believe I got a lemon, and
that problems like mine are very rare in the iBooks.  Why else
would I want to replace this one with another just like it?  :-)
