I have a beige G3 that I bought used. When I received it it had a
20GB hard drive as well as a 2GB hard drive that apparently became
disconnected in transit. I didn't need it so I left it alone until
yesterday, when I wanted to install more RAM and a 1GB Jaz drive.
I can't get the machine to recognize the Jaz drive. It does see the
2GB HD, which is connected to the same ribbon cable and the same
power cable (there are two connectors on each).
The Jaz drive works, because at one point I started the Mac with the
case open, and it did mount--the HD did not. When I closed up the
case _neither_ would mount.
Of course I'd like to have both working, but if I had to choose I'd
rather have the Jaz drive (I have two disks filled with mp3s that I'd
rather not have to rip again).
Any ideas what the problem could be?
TIA
