Here is a page that shows the progression flow to go to OS X.2.8 http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75421 It seems that these list are drastically changing, more and more listers are complaining about their computers not working and it seems to me that most of them have failed to check out the necessary information to get then to work. I believe that in order to get OS 10.2.8 to run you must first have some version of 10.2.1 or above on board. If you follow the information in the page above that was listed you'll see the progression that must be followed to get 10.2.8 on your machine, Also I believe that in order to load 9.2.1 on your machine you must have OS 9.1 on board. Good Luck. *****************************************
> I took a foolish gamble and bought a G4 ditial audio (533) on ebay, > picked it up earlier today, and it doesn't work. It came without an OS, and I tried to install 10.2.8, but it crashes around the license agreement screen, sometimes at the screen, sometimes not until it asks to agree or disagree. The 9.2.1 disc also fails to work, giving a blank white screen immediately rather than an eventual crash. It also failed to boot with my former HD, an external drive. The internal HD that came with the machine checked out in disc tools. Might it be a (relatively) simple problem with the CD drive? Is there anything I can do here? Could a service tech help me out, or is this a known issue that simply means death? Thanks in advance for any responses. My iMac just died, and the only way I could stay in my budget and stay with Apple was to buy used. Now I'm off to read the seller the riot act... -tyler -- Brad 55417-1734 "Pwr Mac G4 64 MB Radeon 7000 AGP Gtaphics OWC Mercury Extreme 1GHZ CPU Upgrade 1.12GB Ram 9GB Quantum Fireball/ OS 9.2.2 WDC 80GB/ OS X.3.9 Pioneer DVR 105 Pwr Mac G3 B&W 64MB Radeon 7000 PCI Graphics card 450MHZ CPU 1gb ram 120 gb Maxtor DiamondMaxPlus X.3.9/80gb Hitachi Deskstar Sata harddrive X.4/ 40gb Maxtor DiamondMax ATA hard drive/9.2.2 Seritek SATA Controller card/Pioneer DVR 105 OS X.3.9/ Lexmark X1185 all- in- one printer Powerbook 3400c 200MHZ, 144MB ram, 2gig harddrive, OS 9.1, modules; floppy, cd-rom, zip drive If it's good to you, it's good for you -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
