System X needs to be installed on the first (top) 7.8 Gig of your
hard drive.
If you have a drive larger than that, you need to partition it.
Have you done this?

I bought the book "The Missing Manual" by Pogue and " Mac OS Xv.10.2
Jaguar Little Black Book" by Steinberg.
The books explain all the new features but don't tell me how to open.
Perhaps there is a link for dummies like myself explaining how to do
such things.
Any help would be appreciated,
