``I am trying to help my sister-in-law with her monitor settings on a B&W running 10.3.9 and running into a small snag.
The only display resolution she is seeing is 640 x 480. There are no other resolutions shown in the Displays panel of System Preferences. I had her run System Profiler and the only ID on the video card she could give me was: ATY GT-C and it has 4MB of memory. She really needs to get the resolution up to at least 832 x 632, if not 1024 x 768. We tried setting the colors to thousands, but still no additional resolutions show up. Is a 4MB card enough to run at higher settings than 640 x 480 or am I going to have to get her a better card? I also thought X could not run at 640 x 480, am I wrong? Thanks, Len'' Yes, it will run, but some of the necessary parts of dialog boxes will be cut off. BTW, that return value code for the card is for a card with the earlier Rage Pro chipset, not the usual Rage 128 that those machines came with. Could that be part of the problem? What monitor is she using? Some of the older Apple monitors require an adaptor for the VGA output on the ATI card that mimics the ADB controls that are used to set the resolution, like the AppleVision 1710. ~~ Bill Art page: <http://geocities.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/> -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
