Diane,
Dana gave you some good specifics to look for. If you want to make it
simpler, what I would do is go to ebay and search for PCI airport.
There were 29 cards that came up when I searched. Look them over and
only buy from someone with a high rating. I am not one of the sellers,
and I won't benefit from your doing this.
The problem with going to a store and looking for one of these cards
is that nobody tells you what chipset they use on the package.
Manufacturers change chipsets on the same model number, so it is hard to
even say what to buy. The only safe thing to buy in a store is an Apple
brand PCI airport card, if you can find one and are willing to pay that
price. Most of the ones I saw on ebay were under $30 shipped. If you
are patient and wait for a good deal, I bet you could get one under $20
shipped.
Good luck,
Ralph
