Look in the system-level /Library/Preferences/ folder. Not sure of the exact names, 'cause I'm not running Panther right now, but in Tiger they're things like: com.apple.networkConfig.plist then in SystemConfiguration/ there's things like NetworkInterfaces.plist com.apple.nat.plist com.apple.airport.preferences.plist >So that similar to Trashing the desktop file: >com.apple.desktop.plist > >in order to be able to reset desktop preferences, I might try Trashing >one or more of these to reset my internet PCI card. > >Can I delete or Turn Off successfully Built-in Ethernet under Network? >I've tried setting IPv4 and IPv6 to OFF, and unchecking Built-in >Ethernet, but my OS X still tries to set it up along with my PCI >ethernet card. Called "MACE"? Not sure exactly what you're trying to do. WRT the network interfaces, Unix is VERY stable. Don't be tossing prefs unnecessarily. To turn off an interface, go to its pane in the Network system prefs , turn the protocol off, and hit the Apply button. - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
