You say nothing about what work you need to do or hope to do.

What can the powerful Mac do for your life? Do you need to interface with PCs?

You may want to run Winblowz.  Or Word for Mac.

If you have need of web authoring you might like the full range of
Adobe apps. Light web authoring can be done on a myriad of other apps.
Art and illustration, video editing etc  are Adobe's forte. Video
editing with OS X will require Final Cut Pro or Avid.

You may find a tour of versiontracker.com's pages will spark your
imagination. You can find a wide range of software there.

I recommend FileDeamon to manage and keep track of your hard drive content .
