Diane;
Your thoughts trouble me, because you are mixing two, only  
peripherally related things.

The 'Mirroring', provides some 'convenience'  benefits, but almost  
nothing Re: 'Backup Strategy'.

The NAS, is also a 'convenience' thing only.

The only connection to a 'Backup strategy', is if the hardware of the  
NAS never has a problem. (Have you met Mr. Murphy yet?)
