Certain fatal test results stop the boot. Others don't. eg: Transient bus, cache, and memory errors. In fact, I've got a Lombard here that has a dying cache. It does the error chime then boots just fine. It runs very slowly. After a while, depending on the type of memory errors that accumulate, either the video starts showing artifacts or it writes bad data to the HD. - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
