Then you'll never know that the hardware and software problems are beginning, accumulating, feeding on each other, and accelerating until the time when you must reboot after some OS or application update, and the reboot fails, and you have no idea what is going on. Just the simple act of rebooting causes the Mac to do some self examination and reporting. Why not reboot every once a week or month or so. And while doing that, run a utility such as OnyX, Cocktail, or MacJanitor to invoke the maintenance scripts (cron jobs).
