I'm running Leopard on a 450mhz single processor Sawtooth now with 1 gb RAM but for over a year with only 512 mb RAM. It's definitely slow but it is useable. I installed it on an external hard drive attached to a iBook G4 and then just moed it and connected it to my Sawtooth. Very easy and the external hard drive is faster than the slow internal drive.
I find the speed loss compared to Tiger worth the benefit of learning Leopard amd maintaing only 1 OS on all my Macs.. Of course YMMV. Its definttely not as snappy as my MacBook Pro but still very useable for me.
