Thank you for your reply. Suppose I could eliminate the drive issue
( I need the iMac so i can backup and reformat anyways). How would the
equation change? I do have a retail OS 9.04 CD that I could use. The
OS 9.04 CD has only been used on a 9500 which has been recently wiped.
and the Tiger DVD was used on a now dead iBook.

I definitely was biased because I was shooting the price in my head up
to around $500. So the price that I wanted/wished/hoped clashed with
what was reasonable.

I really do appreciate your help, I'm just slightly disappointed in
what I can expect to get.

Thanks,
Bucky
