Maybe this will help. As you know, the video board in the Beige is on
the motherboard, so changing roms won't make any difference at all.
Also the video on the later personality card(s?) only worked with the
rev 3 boards if I remember correctly. I had a rev 1 board and a rev
C rom with the last personality card. I tried like the dickens to get
the video to work. No way. This is all poorly documented by Apple and
on the web.

Anyway, I did some pretty sophisticated work with Final Cut on that
old Beige by adding an ATI Radeon 7000 video card. If I remember
correctly, this card has an svideo output so it would work for you.
Generally settings made on ATI cards tend to stick through reboots
until you turn them off. (I have a 96000 ATI card in a Quicksilver
that has had the video turned on for months, even though it isn't in
use.) The 7000 should have better video resolution than the
personality card anyway, a full 640 x 480 30fps. Those cards had half
that resolution, if I remember correctly.

You should be able to get a Mac Radeon 7000 pci card for a few bucks.
Might solve your problem.

Hope this helps,
Rich
